I’ve never claimed to be a master in the kitchen. I burn, under-season, over-cook, and generally ruin almost everything I touch. My husband, on the other hand, can open the pantry, find nothing but cereal, canned soup, baking soda and oranges, and somehow still come up with a delicious feast!
I seriously don’t know how he does it! Now, I’ll be honest, when we first got married, this bothered me quite a bit. I thought I was a horrible wife because I couldn’t cook as well as he could.
Over the years, however, my ego has shrunk a little each time my stomach has expanded with another baby-on-the-way. I’m not saying I don’t ever have moments of envy or frustration every now and then, but in times like now – when I’m seven months pregnant with three little kids at home –Â I couldn’t be more grateful!
Last week, for instance, I had a long and achy day, wobbling around the house trying to do laundry and clean up after the kids. By the time supper time came, I could barely walk. But instead of asking why dinner wasn’t ready right when he walked in the door from work, Jason instead said, “What were you planning on cooking? I’ll do it for you.”
And girls – I LET HIM!
I didn’t wallow in self-pity over my inadequacies in the kithen. I didn’t puff up with pride and insist on being super-woman. Instead, for that moment anyway, I just sat on the couch, put my feet up, and thanked God for giving me a husband who can cook so well! Dinner was ready in about 20 minutes, and with his usual “special additions,” it was even better than it would have been had I cooked.
What about you? How has your husband blessed you lately, or what has he done that has really touched or impressed you? Sure, your husband may leave his clothes on the floor or dishes in the sink, but for today, let’s focus on what he does that wow’s you. Let’s brag on our husbands!
Q: It’s “Brag on your husband” Day! Leave a comment and tell us something special about your man!
My husband is more than I could have wished for me!! He is a man of God, isn’t afraid to share it either and can cook and clean way better than me! This has caused some friction at times especially if I am feeling inadequate in these areas ! But he is so gracious and has provided for me and our kids and now grandkids for 42 years now! I do help and round his edges as he does mine, God knew exactly what and who we needed in our lives besides Him! I am forever grateful, thanks for giving me a chance to share on my man.
He sounds like a great guy! Thx for sharing!!
My husband planned an event for a Christian camp. It was a reunion of the staff because the camp had closed. It was a joy to see everyone connect and tell about their lives. We expected 20 and we think 60 came! How sweet it was to see these dear people again. I was very proud of my husband for his work planning this wonderful time of fellowship. Good job, Honey!!
I have food allergies. My sweet husband is a master at reading labels and researching restaurants and menus to make me feel secure when I put food in my mouth. He is my protector and I love him with all my heart.
I will have been married to the most wonderful man for 13 years this year. He is AMAZING!! We have 2 equally amazing daughters, Madison and Reese. I work outside of the home, at night, no less!! So, when he comes home from work, we have dinner as a family, then, he takes over and I leave. When I return at 7:30 a.m. …I come home to 2 little girls enjoying a breakfast cooked by their daddy, they are fully dressed (and their clothes match!!) down to the perfectly made “hair by Daddy”. Their lunches are made and packed (a la Daddy) ready to head out for school. All of this after a night of him having bathed and put them to bed…ON TIME!! Our conversation over breakfast usually consists of them telling me how they played barbies with Daddy last night, or some other game. Then, its kisses for everyone as I wish them a good day….and for me a good night. I thank God every day for giving me such a man. I love him more than words could say and every day….I love him more. Thank you God!!
ANY “Mr. Mom” moments are amazing in my book, and it sounds like your hubby has lots of them! God bless him!
