In what do you hope?

“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord.” Isaiah 31:1 NIV

in what do you hope

The Lord gave the Israelites four warnings through the prophet Isaiah. First, by telling them not to go down to Egypt, He was warning them not to depend on their surroundings. Secondly, by telling them not to rely on horses, He was warning them not to depend on their stuff. Third, when He said not to trust in a multitude of chariots, He was warning them against trusting in their surplus. And lastly, He warned them not to depend on their own strength or on the strength of their army.

In what do you tend to place your hope? Your surroundings, your stuff, your surplus or your strength? The Lord says to woe to anyone who places their hope in anything but Him.
