If one of your annual traditions is reading the One-Year Bible, there’s a good chance you’re already a good way through the book of Genesis. It’s one of my favorite books of the Bible, but portions of it are so familiar, I’m afraid I sometimes rush past them.
Like the account of creation.
“God made the animals… yada, yada, yada… and it was good.”
Have you ever been guilty of flying past such divine creativity like I have?
Thankfully, there are artists in the world who remind me of God’s glory from time to time, some of them, without even knowing that they’re doing so.
Tim Flach is such a man. A photographer out of London, Mr. Flach photographs animals like I have never seen before. The first time I saw his photos, all I could think about was the first chapter of Genesis and how God created each and every dog, horse or frog that this man captured on film.
I encourage you to check out his photos on his website, or perhaps even buy his books. Dog lovers will love Dogs, horse lovers will love Equus, and everyone will love More Than Human. And, while you stare in awe at his photos, re-read Genesis 1, and thank God for sharing His creativity with us.
24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:24-25)
Q: What do you think of Tim Flach’s photography? Is there another artist who helps you appreciate God’s creativity?
