God is love. It may be the very first thing that you learned about Him. Before you learned that He created you, before you learned that He sent His son, before you learned that He has a plan for your life, you probably sang this: “Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so.”
Yes, God loves you.
But there’s more to His love than we sometimes think about. God loves you, yes. But God also IS love. So He is able to love you with the purest, most powerful, most eternal type of love there is. It’s a type of love reserved only for Him because He is the only One who is capable of such love.
His love cost Him everything, yet it costs you nothing.
God is the only One who will ever truly love you unconditionally.
There are no strings attached.
1 John 4:8 says that “God is love.”
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
And 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 explains what love is:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
What a beautiful description when you put those two truths together:
And, while that description is a wonderful truth from God’s word, I also love this beautiful verse from the hymn, The Love of God:
Let’s Talk! What is your favorite description of the love of God?

- Why Ephesians 4:29 is so hard to do | Glo-Girl | Christian Womens Blog Glo-Girl | Christian Womens Blog - […] of the Lamb. And yet, some-days we don’t talk like we know anything of God’s grace or His amazing…
This is beautiful. It’s amazing how much He loves us. I think about how I feel about my child. I love him more than words can describe. A parent’s love is something you can’t describe until you have experienced it. I think that is how our God feels about us, but times a million, because He is God! It’s an overwhelming feeling!
My favorite descriptions of God’s love describe his feelings and actions toward me; I can never hear it enough…Gal 2:20 who loved me and gave Himself for me… 1Cor 6:19…your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is IN YOU!!!, which you have of God and you are not your own, you are bought with a price, (Jesus paid it all) …2Cor6:18,19 and I will be a Father to you and you shall be my sons and daughters says the Lord.
and then, “I have loved you with an everlasting love therefore I have drawn you”…that’s why I love the Scriptures, they tell the truth about God’s love, rather than the lies the world or our flesh tell us…and we like Mary can worship…Be it done to me according to thy Word. I love that God is looking for worshippers whose heart is wholly His.
