What do you have to give to God? You may not have an overflow of minutes. You may not have an abundance of energy. You may not have eloquent words. But there is one thing that you can give Him in whatever situation you’re in: your heart.
“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise” (Ps. 51:17).
That’s beautiful, isn’t it? Giving God the sacrifice of your broken spirit and contrite heart. But, let’s be honest; it’s not very practical. It’s way too abstract; it’s hard to measure and who even knows what contrite means anyway? (It means sorry or remorseful, by the way.)
So if you’re supposed to have the spirit of sacrifice, which God loves, what does that look like when you’re paying bills? What does that look like in the grocery store? What does that look like on an everyday, folding laundry, cooking supper, busy woman basis?
