If you’re like me, the days after Christmas are usually a blur. My house is buried beneath toys, boxes, wrapping paper and leftovers, and it will probably take days to get through all of the layers.

Most of us spend weeks thinking about the very first Christmas and what that means to us, but we don’t spend much time thinking about the days after the first Christmas. That’s when the wise men came to see Jesus.

About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”… And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was.When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! (Matthew 2:1-2, 9-10)

This year, instead of blowing by Christmas at warp speed and jumping immediately into “after Christmas mode,” why not let Christmas linger a little longer? Think about what happened after the first Christmas. When the wise men followed the star to the newborn king.
